Major Curriculum Structure

Starting with basic design, drawing, and digital design education in the first grade, the curriculum of Kyung Hee University's Department of Industrial Design will gradually deepen specialized fields such as products, space, mobility, UX, and service design in grades 2–3 and complete practical competencies in the fourth grade through project-based classes centered on AI, smart convergence, and comprehensive design.

Prerequisite & Subsequent Course Completion Structure
Guide to the Prerequisite & Subsequent Course Completion System
The Department of Industrial Design operates a prerequisite–Subsequent course system to ensure effective completion of the major’s in-depth curriculum.
3rd Year: Completion of Prerequisite Courses

You must complete fiveof the following nine courses opened in the third grade.

  • Design Business
  • UX Design
  • Mobility Design 1
  • Interior & Spatial Design 1
  • Innovative Design 1
  • Service Design
  • Mobility Design 2
  • Interior & Spatial Design 2
  • Innovative Design 2

* Completion of the prerequisite course corresponds to the qualification requirements for taking the 4th grade graduation certification course.

4th Year – 1st Semester: Selection of Subsequent (Graduation Certification) Courses

Students who have completed the prerequisite courses may freely select 3 coursesfrom the following Subsequent courses:

  • AI Convergence Design 1
  • Smart Convergence Design 1
  • Industrial Design Capstone Project 1
  • Future Space Design 1
4th Year – 2nd Semester: Linked Completion of Subsequent Courses

Students must take the continuation courseof the same subject selected in the 1st semester. (Required for graduation eligibility)

Graduation Thesis & Graduation Exhibition
Apart from the above, prospective graduates are required to apply for a "graduation thesis" subject during the first or second semester of the fourth grade, and final graduation certificationis made through graduation exhibitions and thesis review.
